1. About this site
UK Tax Drag (uktaxdrag.co.uk) is a free, independent UK tax-literacy site. It hosts calculators, guides, and educational material relating to UK personal tax, pensions, savings, investing, and household finance. The site has no paid accounts, requires no login for the calculators, and does not collect personal data beyond what is described in the privacy policy.
2. Permitted use
You may use the site for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. You may share links to pages and quote short extracts with attribution. You may not:
- Republish, mirror, scrape, or commercially redistribute substantial portions of the site without prior written permission.
- Use automated tools (bots, crawlers, scrapers beyond ordinary search-engine indexing) in a way that materially burdens the site's hosting or sync features.
- Misrepresent calculator outputs as personal financial, tax, legal, or regulated advice from us.
- Use the site or its content to mislead third parties about their tax position.
3. No warranty — calculators are estimates
Every calculator and guide on the site is intended as a guideline estimate using published UK rates and thresholds for the stated tax year. Tax law is complex and individual circumstances vary widely. The site:
- Does not promise that any calculator output is accurate for your specific circumstances.
- Does not promise that the rates, thresholds, or rules used are current at the moment you read the page; verify against the latest gov.uk guidance before acting.
- Provides content "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
For the broader scope and limitations of every calculator, see the content disclaimer.
4. Not financial advice
UK Tax Drag is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Nothing on the site is personal financial, tax, legal, accounting, mortgage, pensions, or investment advice. The content is general information for educational purposes. You should obtain advice tailored to your circumstances from a qualified adviser before making any financial, tax, or investment decision.
5. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, UK Tax Drag and its operators accept no liability for:
- Any loss or damage (direct, indirect, consequential, or incidental) arising from your use of, or reliance on, content or calculations on the site.
- Any decisions you make on the basis of site content, including without limitation tax filings, investment decisions, mortgage decisions, and pension decisions.
- Any errors, omissions, or out-of-date figures in the calculators or guides.
- Any unavailability, interruption, or technical fault of the site.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under English law.
6. Intellectual property
All site copy, calculator logic, illustrations, structured data, and JavaScript are © UK Tax Drag unless explicitly attributed otherwise. Trade marks (HMRC, gov.uk, FCA, named ETF brands, etc.) belong to their respective owners and are referenced for educational purposes only — no endorsement is implied.
7. Third-party links
The site links to third-party resources (notably gov.uk, HMRC, the FCA, the Bank of England, MoneyHelper, and named investment-product issuers) so you can verify figures or read further. Those sites are outside our control. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or availability of any external page, and a link is not an endorsement.
8. Saved scenarios and optional sync
If you use the scenario tools, your inputs may be stored locally in your browser. If you opt into the optional sync feature, encrypted scenario data may be sent through the site's Netlify Function and email magic-link service for retrieval on another device. The privacy policy explains this in detail. You are responsible for backing up any scenarios you wish to retain.
9. Changes to these terms
These terms may be revised from time to time to reflect changes to the site, the law, or operational practice. The "last updated" date below shows the current version. Continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
10. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with the site or these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Contact
For questions about these terms, factual corrections to a calculator or guide, or formal complaints, see the contact route on the About page.
